| VISION
|
THE EVOLUTION OF THE
BOUTIQUE HOTEL
Poised at the heart of downtown Toronto lies an urban sanctuary –
a fusion between ancient eastern philosophy and the best of modern
western technology creating an experience as worldly as it is inspiring.
In a word: Cosmopolitan.
Defining the evolution of the boutique hotel, the
Cosmopolitan Toronto Hotel defies the stifling standards of the
modern hotel industry.
A self-professed non-hotelier, Gil Blutrich, owner
and visionary, depicts the Cosmopolitan as a creative playground
upon which he has shaped a self-portrait representing the business
traveller who desires an urban sanctuary built on the premises of
individuality and tranquility.
Not only created for the chic and trendy, the Cosmopolitan
entices multiple generations of travellers who appreciate the simplicity
and serenity intricately woven into the Cosmopolitan’s design.
With a total of 97 suites and only 5 suites
per floor, the Cosmopolitan Toronto Hotel is the epitome of an intimate
retreat.

| SETTING |
Toronto
Known as a world within a city, Toronto’s diverse cultural landscape
and big-city buzz permeates through its New York-style districts where
visitors find a myriad activities and experiences ranging from theatrical
events and sporting contests to fashion shows and street fairs.
Affectionately dubbed “Hollywood North”
by the movie industry for its film-worthy likeness to New York City,
the Toronto city scene is frequently bombarded by movie crews and
Hollywood hotties – representing an array of locations from
the heart of New York to the streets of Paris. Toronto also hosts
a plethora of film festivals including the acclaimed Toronto International
Film Festival.
Situated in the heart of downtown, the Cosmopolitan
Toronto Hotel is discreetly tucked away at 8 Colborne St. just steps
from one of the busiest central intersections of downtown, Yonge
and King Streets in the epicentre of the financial district.

ENERGY
CHOREOGRAPHY |
Sylvia Noble (energy consultant
to the stars – Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ron Howard) choreographed
each element of the design and construction to increase the flow of
oxygen and energy. Floor to ceiling windows create “light energy,”
while deep brown and slate features ground the energy and soft blue
accents calm the energy. From the handpicked
street address and the number of swinging doors on each floor to
the quantity of live bamboo plants in each room and the amount of
gemstone amenities, the design was crafted utilizing the number
eight, chosen for its esoteric energy qualities and seen repeatedly
throughout the building.
At the energy-centre of each suite is a natural gemstone
fountain created by Noble. Fully 7 ft. tall, the fountain’s
slate coloured bamboo intertwined with cherry wood radiates around
a crescendo of new jade with water softly cascading down the sides
into the bed of the fountain, creating a soothing centerpiece for
open-eye meditation as the light from the fountain dances on the
ceiling.
Cosmopolitan guests return home each evening
to a custom turndown service with a gemstone left in place of chocolate,
softly set Cosmopolitan mood music and guest-selected incense. Accentuating
the unique experience, guests are treated to “Gemstone Essence”
Shizen Amenities exclusive to the Cosmopolitan (coming in 2006).
The line, including specialty shampoo, bath gel and foot scrub,
was designed by Sylvia Noble to capture the energy generated by
the actual semi-precious stones found in each of the eight amenities
and accessories representing the eight chakras.
